BROOKLYN PHILHARMONIC

You have to admire the audacity of the Brooklyn Philharmonic and its inventive music director, Michael Christie. Almost no group of comparable size works as hard not only to expand the repertory but also to question what an orchestra’s mission can be. During the philharmonic’s three-evening Nuevo Latino Festival, which ended at the Howard Gilman Opera House on Saturday, orchestra members mingled with progressive Latin American artists of various backgrounds and aesthetic inclinations.
